& File Transfer Due: Thursday, August 5 - To be completed in class. Start FrontPage Express. Create a Web page as instructed. Use this sample image placeholder. Save your Web page in c:\My Documents\web as file name index.htm. Open Internet Explorer and test your page using the File / Open / Browse function. Use Windows Explorer to create this directory (it may already exist): c:\tempftpx Obtain your Web Site number from the GB 757 Student Email & Web Site Addresses page. Start FTP Explorer. Use the following options to create your individual connection profile: Profile Name: loyola

01-30 Add (or save) your profile and connect (press button in top right corner). When connected, select your (gb757a??) account in the left side window. Warning: NEVER click on the vol1 or users subdirectory. Doing this will invoke a MASSIVE count function and may lock up FTP Explorer and possibly your machine! Select File / New / Folder. New Folder should appear in the right-side window. Change the name to www (lower-case). Use FTP Explorer to transfer your Web page to your account. When finished, Tools / Disconnect will close your connection Start Internet Explorer and open the following Web page: http://www.studentpersonalpages.loyola.edu Add /~gb757a?? (where ?? is your account 01-30) to the end of the Web address to see your home page! This information is now available to everyone in the World! Save your Web page in your Yahoo! Briefcase and/or a disk/ZIP. Remove (shift-delete will bypass the Recycle Bin) your work files from the machine you are using. |
