| Class Exercise #5 - Personal Web Page Due: Tuesday, August 17, 6:30 PM Start FrontPage Express. Create a home page as follows. Insert a centered 600 pixel wide table with no borders or padding. Place all elements inside. Your Name in a bold colored (non-default) font. A short (4-6 sentences) biography or statement of interest. Your scanned (or digital) photograph. Name your photograph photo.jpg (or .gif if it is of that type) and place it in a subdirectory called images. Locate and save a background image. Name it back.jpg or back.gif and place it in images. Make it your background. Save your Web page in c:\My Documents\web as file name index.htm. Create a Web page entitled favorites.htm and add hyperlinks to five of your favorite Web sites. Return to index.htm and create a hyperlink to favorites.htm. Save your work! Create at least one additional sub-page and link it to your home page. Possible sub-pages could be resume, family, charity activities, sports, Loyola course history, etc. Open Internet Explorer and test your page using the File / Open / Browse function. Start FTP Explorer. Transfer your Web page files and images to your Loyola Web account. Don't forget to create a subdirectory under www entitled images. Place all of your GIFs and JPGs there. Disconnect and shutdown FTP Explorer as soon as your transfers complete (to avoid "hanging" the server). Return to Internet Explorer and test your Web site. Save your work (floppy, zip, Yahoo! Briefcase, Email to yourself, etc.). |
